Berlin
Fliegender Tish - Café Bistro
Mainzer Strasse

Image A Latte Macchiato displayed on a silver platter says it all really. I was surprised to find that in several of the places we visited for a 'sit down and a cuppa' that many of the lattes served were pretty much milk laden creations, with little or no taste. So you can imagine just how pleased I was to find a small graffiti shop front on Mainzer with friendly staff, right round the corner from our hotel. To be honest, I'd have trundled off every day just to set eyes on Deanie, the waitress. A gorgeous student of fashion, pierced, blond, sarcastic, curvy and with a smile that warmed the cockles of this ageing pervy dyke and worth a flick of anyone's froth. Presentation is everything they tell me. Well the Fliegender Tish gets it right every time.

A selection of great coffee as well as fine filling, generous portioned meals. Love, love, loved it there. Not to forget to mention that it was a couple of doors down from Flash the tattooist. If you're looking to not spend all your coffer's then I suggest you look for places to eat and drink well out of the tourist traps that are Frankfurter Allee, Alexandra Platz... The district of Friedrichshain is certainly more up and coming and you'll find an array of queer birds all over the place. 5.90euros for a mozzarella salad and a great hit of C, you really can't beat that!

If you're looking to booze it up, you'll find that you're in the right place. Most bars, as in London, serve coffee as well as spirits and beers. I truly couldn't believe my eyes browsing the menu's and checking out the low prices.
